Gordon Stone Trio

Seven Days’ “Best Instrumentalist 2009” and Emmy Award winner Gordon Stone.

The music that comes from Gordon Stone’s imagination is simply uplifting.
He and his Vermont-based, world-traveling band, combine bluegrass and jazz with African, world beat, and funkƒ in tunes ranging from laid back grooves to high energy musical excursions. With Gordon on pedal steel and banjo, backed by drums and bass, you’ll hear everything from mesmerizing banjo exotica to kick-up-your-boots barn dance numbers, to genre bending audio alchemy, with each new piece sweeter than the last.

Gordon Stone’s latest disc, “Night Shade” was called “excellenty profoundly so” by Seven Day’s. Recorded in longtime friends, Phish’s barn here in Vermont, Taking a break from the Phish’s summer touring schedule, Page McConnell lends his B3 sounds to the title track and Mike Gordon says of Gordon Stone: “Clearly, he’s an inspiration.”

“Stone has always pushed the limits of his main musical weapons, taking the pedal steel and banjo to places no mere humans normally tread. On Night Shade, however, he pushes things further than ever, lashing world rhythms and out-of-this-world melodic ideas together.” – Jambands.com

Gordon has been awarded a Community Arts Grant from the Vermont Arts Council which will go to support the rehearsal, performance and promotion of a collection of new songs by Gordon Stone that reflect Vermont’s ethnic diversity.
