God Street Wine
God Street Wine is a rock band from New York City. We formed in 1988 when most of us were attending college at NYU and Manhattan School of Music. Early on we were part of the fast growing ‘jam band’ scene in New York along with our friends and colleagues Dreamspeak, Blues Traveler, the Spin Doctors, the Worms, the Authority, and Joan Osborne.
Throughout the 1990s we played several hundred shows every year, touring the whole country first in vans, then in tour buses, both as a headline act and with the H.O.R.D.E. tour and opening for the Black Crowes and the Allman Brothers. We also managed to sign two record deals and record six albums before breaking up in 1999.
After a decade apart, the band was brought back together in 2009 after the tragic death of a close friend. A fan-driven social media movement then pushed for more shows, and since 2010 GSW has obliged with about 20 reunion performances, including special collaborations with former Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir.
