Gathering of the Vibes Non-Perishable Food, Personal Hygiene Products, and Clothing Drive

2012 marked another epic response to our call for donations from the VibeTribe. Over the course of the weekend, festival attendees brought in a total of 7,210 lbs. of donations (6,659 lbs. of food and personal hygiene products and 552 lbs of new or gently used clothing.) In addition to this, food vendors and Gathering of the Vibes chipped in an additional 5,351 lbs. of non-perishable food and perishable food and water.
This gives us a grand total of 12,516 lbs. of donations towards this year’s drive, AMAZING!
Food banks are more than just distribution centers, they are core to providing hope to the communities they serve. Similarly, empowering communities is the cornerstone of The Terrapin Foundation mission statement, and the number one reason we continue to run food drives.
This year’s food drive went to the Connecticut Food Bank with a portion of the donations allocated to Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and The Center for Women and Families.
Past Results and Future Goals
Since 1999 we’ve collected nearly 48,000 lbs. of food, which is over 24 tons. The average American eats 5.5 lbs of food each day, so we’ve collected enough to feed 24 people fully for one whole year. Or, to put it another way, the VibeTribe has donated enough food to provide about 26,000 individual meals over 14 years.
