Jazz Mandolin Project
How Much Land Does a Man Need? That is a great question, and one that The Jazz Mandolin Project is posing to audiences now in an exciting new chapter of its already illustrious career. This timely performance is a unique combination of literature, video and live musical accompaniment. Leo Tolstoy’s famous short story, “How Much Land Does a Man Need?” is retold through narration, a new magical body of composed music and video footage that Masefield collected while touring the country in 2005. The contemporary observations follow the Russian tale in a moving modern context that enables the audience to reflect and ask questions of its own time and place.
