Seriously one of my fave love stories..she has been one of my best friends since 7th grade, we met him as freshmen in high school and he was a year older. They were good friends throughout all of hs and college, had other relationships and after he graduated, they decided to give it a try :twosome:

Well, that was five and a half years ago and the wedding is in October. I'm so excited bc the wedding party is pretty much a big chunk of our crew from high school, plus a few cousins and college friends added to the mix.

I really wanna do something special for the 2 of them. I have a friend who does portraits made entirely out of words or a phrase repeated over and over, but I gave that as a wedding gift to another friend 3 yrs ago...would it be tacky to repeat?

Any suggestions or things you've done for your own good friend couples would be much appreciated :)

Roseforrest paints amazingly beautiful portraits :) She did one for Ter, of her and her dad that Ter gave to her dad for christmas, I saw the product, gorgeous...she did it right off a picture.
maybe a shot of them younger or something??

hmm tough one...I know when you want the gift to be so special thats when its the hardest.

but i like your idea too....

you give them the location and the time and date and this print will reproduce the night sky on that special date.

Hmmm I think roseforest did a portrait of erin and her mom too, which is just breathtaking...I'm definitely feeling the 'artsy' route, to give them something that they will always have.

Drop of Rain, I LOVED the night sky website...that has definitely become one of my options!

Thanks so much for all these awesome ideas....and please keep em coming, I still have about 6 months

I love that indigo night idea!! I might have to do this for a friend who got married last year that we still haven't gotten a gift for.

It's hard to find a perfect gift for a good friend. You're on the right track though- definitely something from you, not their registry, and not just money. Most of our best wedding gifts were personalized gifts from our friends'.

 If it wasnt going to be in a Roman Catholic church, I might have gone this route, but as it is, I think the happy couple already are a little nervous about what we may have up our sleeves...little do they know me and one of the groomsmen are planning our very own special surprise dedicated to them for the reception..:funny1:

But since I doubt they will ever venture over to these boards, I can let u all in: They are diehard Bruce Springsteen fans, my friend Mikey and I have been choreographing our own dances together just for giggles since we're like 15...so yea, there might be some interpretive dance to Born to Run or some other such Jersey anthem

Can you write to Bruce Springsteen and see is he will autograph their wedding invite or something?

Phil autographed my friends wedding invite and I framed it....

I decided to order them this for Christmas! I was too broke after all the bridesmaid obligations to give it to them for their wedding in early October. (And needed to save this thread before the purge so I had the link to the website :funny1: )

Their reception was down the shore in NJ...so I'm using a photo of the beach and probably going to use a Bruce quote along the bottom, from their wedding song. I think its going to be perfect..cant wait to see the finished product and wrap it up for them for their 1st Christmas as Mr and Mrs

I know, I was torn between the two...the portrait Erinisme had roseforest do of her and her mom when she was little is so beautiful. I admire it everytime I go over her apt.

BUT I had given an original portrait to another couple friend of ours for THEIR wedding a few years ago and didnt want to repeat the same gift idea. The indigo night frames are so unique...I'd totally recommend anyone go check out that website if you're looking for a creative, different gift to give to someone, they do them for all sorts of different occasions :)

It came this week, I cant wait to give it to them tomorrow! I picked the beach with fence/dunes pic and it says "Night Sky over the Jersey Shore" with a line from their Bruce Springsteen wedding song underneath it: Everyone dreams of a love lasting and true. They did a gorgeous job framing it too..I think that might have been the easiest gift I have ever ordered over the Internet!

I had NO IDEA there was a full moon for their wedding...it looks sooo amazing in the pic. They are gonna love it!
