Gathering of the Vibes offers a variety of crafts and activities for young ones.
For the young ones, Kids Corner is a rockin good time! Led by Gabrielle Fugere and Andy “The Music Man” Morse, 2013 marks the 14th anniversary of Kids Corner at the Vibes. There’s never a shortage of activities, whether it’s painting on a community mural, listening to children’s entertainers, face painting, costume making, arts and crafts, dancing with puppets, or just relaxing on a comfy couch and reading stories. We know you’ll feel right at home!
Located within walking distance of the concert field, Kids Corner & Teen Scene are surrounded by beautiful trees and plenty of green space. Family Camping is situated nearby, as well as clean bathrooms. It’s the ideal compromise between a child’s need to have fun, and a parent’s desire to catch as much music as possible.
Teen Scene is a place where teens can learn to play a musical instrument through free, professional instruction as well as jamming with friends. Special guests show up and perform intimate sets for the teens. Teens can socialize, play games, get hair wraps, learn to juggle and much more.
The School of Rock Stage
The School of Rock performance-based approach to music lessons results in students who are more inspired to learn, more motivated to excel and more confident to perform. Instructors are typically working musicians. They don’t teach music to put on shows; they put on shows to teach music. By exposing students to the finer points of their instrument, while at the same time educating them on everything that goes into putting on a great live show, the result is time and time again nothing short of inspired.
Light and Sound Workshops
Fear not the future occupants at front-of-house. The Vibes’ Main Stage Sound and Lights crew plan to host workshops for those who excel behind the boards. Engineers from Meyer Sound Laboratories will host sound workshops, and the Vibes’ own Chief Lighting Designer, Chris Ragan, will show aspiring young lighting designers how to operate a light board. DBS Audio, Dave Brotman (owner), is generously donating Meyer UPA speakers, subwoofers, monitors, their Midas Venice console. BML Blackbird is donating the same Martin lighting gear used on the main stage. United Staging and Rigging, Doug Frawley (General Manager), agreed to provide the staging free of charge. Chris Hubbard of EPAV, also the GOTV Production Manager, will facilitate the production workshops along with other special “behind the scenes” activities to help prepare the next generation of techs for duty.
