The Black Crowes
We’re ecstatic to welcome back The Black Crowes, the renowned southern rock band whose two-hour Friday night set in 2008 was one of the most mind-blowing sets the Vibe Tribe has ever experienced. Without question, their performance at this year’s event is not to be missed.
The Black Crowes specialize in that Stonesy swagger and Faces boogie perfectly. Vocalist Chris Robinson appropriated the sound and style of vintage Rod Stewart, while brother Rich Robinson fused Keith Richards’ lean guitar attack with Ron Wood’s messy rhythmic sense. At their best, the Black Crowes echoed classic rock without slavishly imitating their influences, and the band’s nostalgic sound helped foster a long, popular career.
After a hiatus between 2002 and 2005, the band released Warpaint, which hit number 5 on the Billboard chart. After the release of a double album, the greatest hits-like and mostly acoustic Croweology in August 2010, the band started a 20th anniversary tour that was followed by an ongoing second hiatus, returning again in 2013 with a European tour and subsequent American tour, with guitarist Jackie Green replacing Luther Dickinson.
