Born of traditional New Orleans marching bands, the Dirty Dozen
integrated electric instruments with their mighty brass section and
have relentlessly roiled audiences with a raucous array of rump-shaking
jams for over three decades since. Collaborators from Dizzy Gillespie
to Widespread Panic have tapped the Dirty Dozen to bring muscle to
their music. In the 80's, when most people had all but forgotten about
brass band music, the Dirty Dozen inspired a resurgence in the genre;
first in the city of New Orleans, then nationwide. Next, the world took
notice and the group has since performed in over 65 countries.
